Since it opened, Dragan Field has played host to a number of tournaments and leagues.\u00a0 Many have become long time annual traditions.<\/p>\n

Frostbite Doubles<\/a> – 2025 TBD<\/p>\n Traditionally held late January or early February, a best-shot doubles tournament first played in 2004.<\/p>\n Jokers Wild Doubles<\/a> – 2025 TBD<\/p>\n Traditionally held in late March or early April, a two round doubles tournament in which the first round (the Joker round) plays six different formats (3 holes of each) and the second round is played in the best shot format.\u00a0 This tournament was first played in 2017.<\/p>\n Dragan Disc Golf Classic<\/a> – June 1-2, 2024<\/p>\n The crown jewel and longest running tournament at Dragan Field, dating back to 2001.\u00a0 Also the longest running PDGA tournament in Maine.\u00a0 Routinely maxes out capacity, draws players from all over the country, and has World and National champions among its victors.<\/p>\n GOATS at Dragan Field – July 20, 2024<\/p>\n A tournament (and series) exclusively for players age 40 and older.\u00a0 The Golden Oldies Anhyzer Tournament Series<\/a> is entering its fifth season and is making its annual stop at Dragan Field.\u00a0 This event\/series is ideal for older players looking not just for competition but camaraderie.<\/p>\n The GreenHorn Tournaments<\/a> – Singles = July 21, 2024, Doubles = August 3, 2024<\/p>\n Beginner-oriented tournaments aimed at introducing players to competitive play and teaching the rules and procedures of tournament disc golf.\u00a0 The singles tournament is typically held in late July and the doubles tournament is typically held in early August.\u00a0 Since 2014, the singles tournament has been held in conjunction with the Trilogy Challenge<\/a> (open to all).<\/p>\n Talon Championship<\/a> – August 17, 2024<\/p>\n Begun in 2022, a PDGA sanctioned tournament played exclusively on Talon. Multiple layouts used for all divisions.<\/p>\n Thorndike Memorial<\/a> – November 3, 2024<\/p>\n Annual singles tournament traditionally played on the first Sunday in November dates back to 2003.\u00a0 Since 2011, the tournament has been sanctioned as a PDGA C-tier.<\/p>\n Santa’s Doubles <\/a>– December 14, 2024<\/p>\n Christmas themed tournament that dates back in various formats to 2004.\u00a0 The current format involves one round of best shot doubles and a second round called “Santa’s Grab Bag” in which the format is drawn from Santa’s hat just before the round begins.<\/p>\n Last Call<\/a> – TBD<\/p>\n One round, flex start tournament on Red Dragon winter layout designed to give players one last chance for PDGA points before the season ends.\u00a0 Players can sign up for any tee time is convenient to play their round.<\/p>\n Weekly Events<\/p>\n Held on Monday evenings when daylight warrants, the most common format is random draw doubles, but we also play singles.\u00a0 In the spring, 12 weeks of Monday Night doubles are used as a points series in which the winner earns free entry to the Dragan Disc Golf Classic<\/a>.\u00a0 Once that series ends, singles<\/a> and doubles<\/a> are alternated through the summer and early fall.<\/p>\n Skills Challenge Doubles<\/a> – discontinued in 2024<\/p>\n Held in mid\/late April, this is a revival of an old tournament format combining best shot doubles with a driving contest and a putting contest.\u00a0 Points earned in the driving and putting are subtracted from the golf scores to give an overall total.<\/p>\n Mulligan Challenge<\/a> – discontinued in 2023<\/p>\n A one-round, flex start challenge in which players attempt to shoot a target score on each hole using as few mulligans (re-throws) as possible. Because of the flexible nature of the event, they can occur multiple times a year.<\/p>\n<\/h6>\n
