Traditionally held in late July at Dragan Field<\/a>, participation in the full tournament is restricted to players who have played in two or fewer organized tournaments OR who have played more than two tournaments but never above the PDGA-sanctioned Recreational division (players with a sub-900 PDGA rating).<\/p>\n Since 2014, the tournament has combined with the Trilogy Challenge<\/a>, enabling players to get more “bang for their buck” via a larger player’s package, as well as to bring in experienced players to double as mentors for the day.\u00a0 The Trilogy Challenge itself doubles as the first round of Greenhorn tournament.<\/p>\n ANYONE of any skill may compete in the Trilogy Challenge (round 1)<\/em><\/p>\n Only true Greenhorns may compete in the full day tournament<\/em><\/p>\n The Greenhorn Format (Trilogy Challenge edition)<\/strong><\/p>\n The day begins with a registration and check-in period in which players receive their player’s packages (usually 8:00am to 9:00am).\u00a0 Check-in is followed by a 45 minute clinic going over the ins and outs of typical tournament etiquette and rules of play. The first round of play follows.<\/p>\n In round one, all players are restricted to using only the three Trilogy Challenge discs given in the player’s package.\u00a0 Playing groups will be a mixture of true Greenhorns and experienced players who are competing only in the Trilogy Challenge.\u00a0 After the round is a break for lunch as well as the Trilogy Challenge awards for the best scores.\u00a0 The second round of play follows the break.<\/p>\n In the second round, only the Greenhorns are involved in the competition and they are allowed to play with any discs they wish.\u00a0 Many of the experienced players still on hand join groups and play along in a non-competitive manner.
