Mulligan Challenge

Next date: TBD

An event format inspired by a Simon Lizotte vlog, the objective is to meet or better a target score on each hole using as few mulligans (re-throws) as possible.  Different divisions will have different target scores to achieve.

Rules:

  • Minimum of 3 players per group, maximum of 5
  • Playing through slower groups is allowed
  • Thrower continues until getting desired result (once new player tees off, previous thrower is done)
  • Retrieving previously thrown discs = abandoning all throws in the field
  • Spotters allowed/encouraged but no self-spotting (no running ahead to assess and returning to re-throw)
  • Fewest mulligans needed to accomplish goal is the winner
  • Players may only compete in one division
  • Mixed groups (multiple divisions in one group) is allowed
  • CTP can only be marked if the tee shot is used to complete the hole

Scoring:

  • Getting the target score with no mulligans is recorded as a zero (0)
  • Record only the number of mulligans used for each hole

Tiebreakers (first place ties only):

  • Tiebreaker #1 = most “perfect” holes in a round (no mulligans used to achieve target score)
  • Tiebreaker #2 = most holes using only one mulligan
  • Tiebreaker #3 = most holes using only two mulligans
  • If further tiebreakers are needed, continue the pattern…most holes using only three, most holes using only four, etc until tie is broken
