Caddy Book

Two weeks from now we’ll know who our champions are.  Hard to believe it’s so close.

In an effort to help our out of town friends get to know the course a bit better, we’ve put together a full color Caddy Book for the course, including details on the Dragon’s Tail Nine course to be played by the top 9 MPO players.  It is viewable in the window below, or it can be downloaded directly from this link (right-click and save).

It should be noted that we will not be printing this to have available to players on tournament weekend.  Instead, a condensed version will be included in the Player Program.  So you’ll get the info handed to you, but it won’t be so large and colorful in the program (and the program will not include the DT9 hole maps).  Enjoy!

Note: Pars listed are the recreational pars used daily by our regular players.

Trivia time

We are exactly one month away from DDGC16.  On this occasion, we’ve put up a trivia question on our Facebook page (feed can be found on the right side of this page –>).  The first person to answer it correctly will win their choice of a DDGC16 stamped disc when those orders arrive.

On another note, the course was switched out of its winter mode a couple weeks back so practice for the DDGC can truly begin now.  We’ve made a couple changes to the course if you’ve played in past years.

The first is a new, longer pin placement on hole 15.  What has long been a relatively simple straight shot with a left finish is now a straight shot all the way into a bottleneck green.  A set of photos were posted on Dragan Field’s Facebook the day it was moved.

The second may be familiar to those that played or watched last year’s DT9.  The long position used for DT9 hole 8 (regular hole 17) is now a permanent placement and the basket will be there for all rounds of the DDGC.

Once the leaves start to bloom, the plan is to get out and do a photo walk-through of the whole course and get it posted on the Dragan Field site (accessible through the “Course” link at the top of the page).  That way our traveling players can get an idea of what to expect when they arrive in June.

Enter Raffle, Win a Bag

Courtesy of Dynamic Discs, we will be raffling off a brand new Sniper backpack in an effort to raise some funds for the tournament purse.  We’re also looking to add more raffle prizes as we get closer to tournament day. (see our Referral Program if you have or know of any prize opportunities)

Dynamic describes the Sniper this way:

The first entry level backpack style bag of quality has arrived. Nothing close to this style, durability, and structure has ever been available for this low of a price. Holding 16 discs in the main compartment, this is not just a “weekend” bag. It can handle all you will need on the course. With a deep top zippered pocket and internal mesh pocket to take care of all of your extras, 2 bottle holders to carry your drinks and reinforced padded backpack straps, the Sniper is ready to get on the course and take out the competition.

Pricing for tickets is one ticket for $2, five tickets for $5, 15 tickets for $10, 30 tickets for $20 and 50 tickets for $30.  They can be purchased in person at the Dragan Field pro shop or online at the MaineDiscGolf.com Store.

Drawing for the bag and any other prizes will take place right before the first round begins on June 4.  You do not need to be present to win.

Sponsors welcome

Another reminder about our Sponsor Referral Program and the opportunity it can create for just about anyone who plays at Dragan Field. If you run a business or know someone who does – say your own employer – a small bit of advertising couldn’t hurt, right? We can’t find every potential sponsor on our own, so we’re putting it out to everyone to help out.

We’re open to anything and everything that we can pass on to our tournament players in their registration packs, as CTP/door prizes, or as raffle items.  Of course, cold hard cash for the Pros works too.  For as little as $20 in value, any person or business can put their name on a sign (at minimum) to be seen by everyone attending the tournament.

We pay commission on every sponsor brought in, in the form of free play at Dragan Field.  Every $20 raised earns a day pass in commission.  Earn enough and we’ll convert the day passes to a full season pass.  All the details are on our Sponsor Referral Program page.

Join the list of sponsors already supporting DDGC16, including Marshall Street Disc Golf, Runway Variety, Bucks County Disc Golf Alliance, Dynamic Discs, Dragon Disc Golf, and of course our presenting sponsor Westside Golf Discs.

Help out, get free play.  What’s better than that?

Eric C Yetter Champions Cup

Since 2006, the DDGC and the Eric C Yetter Champions Cup have been trading free entries for each respective tournament.  Each year, three champions from the Yetter are given free entry to the next DDGC and vice versa.  2016 will be no exception.

The winners of the Pro Open, Pro Women, and Advanced divisions at DDGC16 will be awarded free entry for their respective divisions to the 2016 Yetter Champions Cup on July 23-24 at Tyler State Park in Newtown PA.  There is no additional charge for this and all players in those divisions are automatically entered in the running.

Tyler State Park is public park disc golf at its best.  The “Enchanted Forest” boasts 36 holes that feature three pin locations and in many cases, two tees as well.  For this tournament, all the holes are set up in their “C” pin placements, the longest available, for the two Saturday rounds.  On Sunday, a few holes are moved to shorter but still tough “B” positions while the rest remain in the “C” placement.  The result is a grueling but satisfying test of every type of shot imaginable.

Of course, DDGC entrants are welcome to participate in the Yetter with or without the free entry.  Registration is now open at DiscGolfScene.com.  If you are a paid registrant for the Yetter and then you win one of the free entries, your original entry fee will be refunded to you.  So if you want to go, sign up now before the price goes up (early bird discount ends June 1) to make sure you get in.
