Earn your way in

Tomorrow evening is the first Monday Night Doubles, sponsored by Dynamic Discs, of the season.  Twelve weeks of doubles to earn free entry to the DDGC.

Last year, despite there being at least 2+ feet of snow still on the course, doubles started off with a bang with 22 players.  And attendance remained steadily over 20 players a week until about halfway through the series. We figure it was in part because players were already feeling like they were out of contention.

Not going to be the case this year as after the halfway point, we’ll be doubling the points available each week.  Then after the 3/4 mark, we’re tripling the points.  And there are more and bigger bonuses to win as well.

With the wait list at 15 and growing, winning Monday Night Doubles may just be the only way to get into DDGC16.  Be at Dragan Field by 5pm.  Tee off will begin promptly at 5:15 in order to give us the best chance to finish in the daylight.

We are full

Last week, we predicted on our Facebook page that if the last MPO/FPO spot wasn’t claimed before the weekend, someone would surely sign up in person at our Ice Doubles tournament on Sunday.  Sure enough, yesterday morning two people were at the counter at the same time with cash in hand hoping to snag the last spot.

When the first gentleman asked, the other audibly groaned thinking he’d been beaten to the punch.  Fortunately for the both of them, we had recently been informed of a drop from FPO which allowed them both to register and get into the tournament on the spot.  So welcome to the event Nick Blouin and Zack Jellis.

Not only did we have two players sign up after we sat with one available spot for about three weeks, we also had our first MPO sign up for the waitlist as well.  Lots of action yesterday.

Today also marks one week until Monday Night Doubles kicks off and the quest to win the last DDGC16 spot begins.  Mark your calendars and be at Dragan Field next Monday around 5pm.

Welcome Westside Discs to the DDGC

We promised a few days ago that we had news on the sponsorship front, and if what it is hasn’t been made clear by some of the changes made to the site header and our Facebook avatar, here it is: Westside Golf Discs has come on board to be a presenting sponsor.  We are now officially the Dragan Disc Golf Classic presented by Westside Discs.

What this means is our ams are going to be getting some sweet Westside merchandise in their players packs.  Maybe the pros too, but their benefit in this is largely going to come via their increased cash purse.

Still have one MPO/FPO reserved spot available for the taking.  If you want to play and haven’t signed up yet, what are you waiting for?

Sponsors wanted, and you can help

They make average events good and good events great.  They are sponsors.  The more, the merrier.  Sponsors means more amenities, more prizes, more fun.

We’re looking for any and all sponsors we can get, and we will reward anyone who helps us out in that department through our Sponsor Referral Rewards program.  Rewards begin with just one $20 (cash or equivalent) sponsor referred to the tournament.  Details are at the link.

Speaking of sponsors, we are already lining up some big ones.  More details to come as they are ironed out, but it looks like we’re going to have ourselves a presenting sponsor this year.

We’ve also got a sponsor lined up for the Dragan Field spring league, the winner of which earns free entry to the DDGC.  League is scheduled to begin on the first Monday after Daylight Saving begins, March 14.   Look for flyers and details around March 1.

One last thing for this update…still one MPO/FPO spot left in the tournament.  Surprisingly this spot has been sitting unclaimed for close to ten days.  Sign up for it before someone else does!

Registration update, day 11

The pace has slowed down enough with registration that daily updates are clearly unnecessary.  The current count is 70 players in the tournament, one reserved spot remaining for either MPO or FPO, and one spot held for the winner of the DF spring league.  The wait list is at nine players as of this posting.

Beyond registration, there are some big things in the hopper.  Nothing that can be announced yet, but good things are on the horizon for the event.  Everyone who is in will be glad they got in, and everyone who didn’t will be wishing they were.  Stay tuned.
