2019 Title Sponsor!

We are excited to announce that Latitude 64 is on board as the title sponsor for DDGC19.   As a part of the sponsorship, every entrant (pro and am) will receive a tournament shirt in their player’s pack.  This marks the completion of the Trilogy Trifecta when it comes to title sponsoring the DDGC.  In 2016, it was Westside Discs.  In 2018, it was Dynamic Discs.  Now Latitude 64.

As if there weren’t enough reasons to be involved in the Dragan Disc Golf Classic, Latitude 64’s support is making it even more important to get signed up ASAP.  Set a reminder, bookmark the link now.  Registration opens on February 1 at 8am, and as always, it is expected to fill very quickly.

Title Sponsor!

We are happy and proud to have Dynamic Discs on board as the title sponsor for DDGC18.  Dynamic has supported our event in one capacity or another for the last four years, but they’re stepping it up for 2018.  As a part of the sponsorship, every entrant (pro and am) will receive a tournament shirt in their player’s pack.

As if there wasn’t enough reason to get signed up as soon as registration opens, Dynamic Discs is making it even more imperative.  Set a reminder, bookmark the link now.  Registration opens on February 1 at 8am, and it will fill quickly.

News and Notes

This was sent out in an email to all participants, but for those that didn’t receive the email, we post it here.

Hello Registered Players (and waitlisters) of the DDGC,

Just wanted to send a note to everyone with a couple reminders and news items as we are about 72 hours away from crowning our champions.

1. If you have missed our prior announcements on social media, we have added two holes to the course (holes that will eventually be a part of Dragan Field’s second 18-hole course). We will be playing two 20-hole rounds as a result. This has allowed us to expand the field from 72 to 80 players.

2. The wait list has really started to move in the last week as some players have dropped out. We have attempted to contact everyone who has gotten in from the wait list but not all have responded. Check the registration list at PDGA.com to see if you still have a WL## distinction or not. If you don’t, you’re in. Please contact us if you haven’t already done so, or check your spam folders for the original email we sent out with registration info.

3. We’ve had a wet spring, including in the last week or so. As a result, there are some areas of the course that are particularly soggy. The course is navigable and everything, but there are certainly places one can end up where feet might get wet. If you have waterproof footwear, we recommend it. If not that, then plenty of changes of socks. 🙂

4. Along those same lines, because of the added moisture, some of our overflow parking isn’t very usable. We’ll squeeze everyone in somehow, but we are asking folks to carpool if at all possible just to make things a bit easier.

5. Check-in will be available from 12:00 until 8:00 on Friday (registered players are welcome to play all day Friday for free), as well as 7:00 until 11:30 on Saturday morning. All players must check in on Saturday by 11:30 (including those who check in on Friday). If we have wait-listers present and ready to play and you have not checked in by 11:30, you will lose your spot in the tournament. If you’re caught in traffic or otherwise running late and might not be there by 11:30 but don’t want to lose your spot, CALL us. 207-786-4900. We won’t delay things for you, but we won’t take your spot away.

That’s all for now. We’re really looking forward to seeing everyone and putting on a good show. Please be sure to check out the tournament website (dragandiscgolfclassic.info) as well as the Dragan Field facebook and twitter feeds (–>) for updates and news.

Caddy Book 2017

Less than two weeks until the tournament.  Hard to believe it’s so close.

Last year, in an effort to help our out of town friends get to know the course a bit better, we put together a full color Caddy Book for the course, including details on the Dragon’s Tail Nine course to be played by the top 9 MPO players.  We’ve done it again this year, but we expect it will be to the benefit of our local players as well.

In addition to adding a new pin position this spring (and using a couple added to the course last year but not used at last year’s DDGC), we are adding two brand new holes to the course as well. These new holes, labeled Hole A and Hole B, will eventually become a part of a new, separate 18 hole course.  But in the meantime, we’re adding them on to the existing course for more fun and more room for players.

The Caddy Book can be viewed below or downloaded directly here (right click and save).  It should be noted that we will not be printing this to have available to players on tournament weekend.  Instead, a condensed version will be included in the Player Program.  So you’ll get the info handed to you, but it won’t be so large and colorful in the program (and the program will not include the DT9 hole maps).  Enjoy!

Note: Pars listed are the recreational pars used daily by our regular players.

Trophies

The DDGC has always prided itself on having unique and special trophies for its winners, some coming out better than others. Sooner than we expected and sooner than we’ve ever had before, the trophies for DDGC17 are already done and in our hands. And we can’t resist showing them off.

Cut from wrought iron with a powder-coat finish, they are the design of Kyle Enman and the handiwork of Kyle and his co-worker Matt Belliveau (Matt did the cutting, Kyle did the powder-coat). These easily rank in our top 3 trophies ever and a strong case could be made that these are the best we’ve ever offered. The winner in each division will go home with one of these in the “gold-vein” powdercoat, while second place in select divisions will get the “penny-vein” versions.

Without further ado, here they are. A Sacagawea dollar coin is included in the pictures for scale.

Who wants one?  Start practicing now and be at your best on June 3, and you might just win one.
